Freelance Work

I have been fortunate enough, during my internship period in Wenatchee, WA, to also work as a freelance consultant on three private projects, ranging from a new building in a high-end residential area, to a farmhouse remodel in rural Selah, WA.  Each of these projects are at different stages of completion, but all will be under construction within the next year.

Rolling Hills - New Build

Wenatchee, WA

This 4,600 sq. ft. home sits nestled in the hills of high end neighborhood of Rolling Hills in Wenactchee, WA.  Surrounded by a desert landscape and looking out over the Wenatchee Valley, this home is partially dug into the earth as to respect the surrounding natural landscape and provide a more natural insulation during the extreme cold and hot months.

The style is of a craftsmen/Southwest adobe fusion with exposed wood beams and stone footings, but also features stucco exterior walls to the east and north as to hold insulation and help warm and cool this large home.

The landscaping stays true to that of the natural scape and features sage, clay earth, boulders brought up from the foundation work, and a pond, as to minimize the water use in this dry and arid climate.

Lake Wenatchee Cabin Re-build

Lake Wenatchee, WA

This project came about due to a massive wind and snow storm that felled thousands of trees along the shores of Lake Wenatchee, WA in the winter of 2012.  The roof of this cabin had been shattered by a 100 ft tall pine tree. The internal structure of this cabin's roof and main floor have been entirely compromised and must be re-built.  The renovated design features three dormers instead of the original one dormer.  This allows for more natural light to come in through the home and also create more privacy on the loft level.

This is a green project featuring Nichiha cement siding, re-used wood from the fallen trees and natural insulating materials.

Lake Wenatchee Cabin New Build

Lake Wenatchee, WA

This cabin is a design based upon an older cabin that used to stand in the same space as this new cabin.  This design features a classic A-frame structure with a modern twist.  The open floor plan on the main level of the home allows for excellent views of Lake Wenatchee and the mountains beyond.  The cabin splits the space between refreshingly open and small nestled space for a cold mountain winter.  This is the ideal cabin for an all-year family fun retreat.
